Many patients have questions about botox and are often confused by what they hear on the radio or see on TV. In a nutshell, botulinum toxin helps smooth deep furrows and helps produce a softer smoother skin surface, along with a more restful and youthful appearance. Botox offers the ability to improve appearance without being subjected to major surgery. Botox is also used for the treatment of uncontrolable eyelid and facial spasms (called blepharospasm, and hemifacial spasm). Botox is also useful to help create facial symmetry in patients with aberrant regeneration of the facial nerve after an injury to the face. Botox is used most often in our clinic for softening crows feet, asymetric and furrowed brows, forhead wrinkles, and “lip stick lines” around the mouth.

Thermacool is also known as Thermage. This is a non-surgical way to tighten skin on both the face and body. It has been called “the non-surgical facelift”, by Oprah and many other happy customers. It uses a radio frequency system that causes thinned skin to tighten and contract by stimulating collagen. There is minimal down time needed to recover from this procedure. Some pink discoloration of the skin is expected for the day of treatment. You can be back to work the very next day. Results can last 2-3 years for most people.

If you have nasal allergies (allergic rhinitis) you’re not alone: Allergies are incredibly common. Our office will help you diagnose and treat seasonal, perennial (year long), and food allergies. You dont have to suffer in silence. We will help you develop a plan to keep your allergies under control. We will teach you about “irritants” and how they make allergy symptoms worse.
Other health problems arise from allergic irritation and inflammation. If you have any of the following, our office can help you: sinus infections, eye inflammation, nasal polyps, ear problems, asthma, eczema.
Allergy testing is done through either a skin test or a blood test. Once we know what is causing your allergy symptoms, we will advise you on tips for controlling allergens, taking medications, using saline nasal rinses, and discuss allergy shots (immunotherapy) if you are a candidate.
Over time, allergy shots may make your body less sensitive to allergens. Sometimes underlying problems in your nose or sinuses can’t be treated with shots or medications. To correct these problems, the physician may recommend surgery. Our physicains are board certifiec in Ear Nose & Throat Surgery and can give you an honest evaluation and explaination of your problem.

Dr Puig performs tumescent liposculpture as an office based procedure for healthy patients. The ambulatory surgery center is available for patients who prefer to be sedated by an anesthesiologist during the procedure. Tumescent liposuction generally takes about 2 hours, and recovery takes 3 days. Most people are back to work within 72 hours. Compression garments are recommended for a month after the procedure to assist with the skin shrinking to the newly shaped body part.

| Dr Puig will evaluate your face as a whole in order to determine the areas that will need to be addressed during surgery. The goal of a rhinoplasty surgery is to create a nose that is in harmony with other facial features, your ethnicity, and your personal goals will be taken into account as well.
During surgery, manipulation of the nasal bones, cartilage, and internal structures of the nose are performed to ensure that the new shape you see on the outside is well supported by the internal structure on the inside. Sometimes the addition of grafts (usually cartilage), are needed to achieve the ideal size, shape, and function of your nose. Duration of results are permanent but may change with aging.
Rhinoplasty recovery involves wearing a splint on your nose for a week, and possible a small intranasal gauze dressing which is removed the first day after the surgery. Bruising and swelling may occur around the eyes and cheeks. You may feel congested like you have a cold. To keep swelling to a minimum, you will want to sleep with your head elevated on 2-3 pillows for about a week, use cold compresses, and pain medications as prescribed. You should be back to yourself in 7 – 10 days. Resume strenuous activity in 4-6 weeks. Results continue to refine for up to a year. Be sure to use sunblock after surgery as sun exposure can cause pigment changes in healing skin.
Risks of rhinoplasty – bleeding, infection, asymmetry, nasal airway obstruction, complications due to anesthesia, unsatisfactory results. Sometimes a secondary procedure may be needed to refine results. |
